Alt-pop artist Thehiz is back with a new offering entitled ‘Payday’. The is built around energetic instrumentation; multiple electric guitar parts strumming funky rhythms, a distorted bass line to build tension in the breakdown, dynamic percussion parts including claps that will have you joining in and an incredibly upbeat horn part that shouts through the chorus. The vocal performance is gripping and with a twang of punk but leans in to the fun of the song with an exuberance to it.

On the new release, he says, “I started recording this song in 2021. I co-produced it with Steve Wilmot [OneRepublic, U2, Switchfoot] and Taylor Frankyn. It was mixed by Dusty Moon. Going through the motions of life and feeling like my dreams were so far away. I wrote it to motivate myself through the journey. I wrote this song almost 9 years ago. I’ve accomplished so much since in everything I’ve pursued and it still feels like I’m just getting started.”

Ethiopian-born US-based artist Thehiz first burst onto the scene with his debut single ‘SUBMARINE’ in 2022. It was once he moved to the US at eleven-years-old that he discovered a love for rock music, which eventually blossomed into the music he writes now. 2024 is set to be a standout year for the artist with more music and a European tour on the way.
