I idealised work, consistently put all my energy into being the best team member until I burned out, and naively believed managers and colleagues had generally altruistic intentions. However, as I grew older, I realised this was not the case, and questioned my people-pleasing tendencies and the purpose of my hard work - especially since I wasn’t reaping the rewards.”
